The famous French ethnoarchaeologist Pierre Petrequin delivered in Senate Hall of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi the keynote lecture entitled New trends in ethnoarchaeology: the JADE project and the long Alpine axeheads in Western Europe during the 5th and 4th millennia BC at the opening of the Third Arheoinvest Congress, organised with the support and in the framework of the EthnosalRo project, in front of an audience gathering Romanian and foreign archaeologists and specialists from related domains of study.
Mr. Petrequin was also the co-chairman of the ‘Ethnoarchaeology and Experimental Archaeology’ congress section, where he further presented a paper on the ethnoarchaeology of salt entitled, Comparative studies of salt springs exploitation in New Guinea and the French Jura. After the conclusion of the congress, Mr Petrequin conducted, alongside several members of the EthnosalRo project, a two-day research trip at museums from Iași [ Cucuteni Civilisation Museum ], Suceava [ Bukovina Museum ], Botoșani [ Botoșani County Museum ], Bacău [ Bacău County Museum] and Piatra Neamț [ Museum of Cucuteni Eneolithic Art | Neamț County Museum ], which hold representative artefacts of the Cucuteni civilisation in their collections.
